Electricity Independence for the Cape & Islands

On August 10, 2006, participants in the Cape & Islands Renewable Energy Collaborative (CIREC) conducted a press conference encouraging all energy stakeholders to work together toward a common and eminently achievable goal: electricity independence. A major grant award to CIREC from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative was also announced.

At the media event, the following documents were released:

"Electricity Indicators for Cape Cod," developed for Cape Cod 2020: The Sustainability Indicators Project
"Voting Energy" candidate survey, developed to assist candidates for county, state, and federal office in articulating positions and to help voters in making informed decisions
"Renewable Energy Resolution," submitted to the Cape Light Compact Governing Board

This website is being developed through the Cape & Islands Renewable Energy Collaborative (CIRenew). Its framework was created under a community planning grant award from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC). The Clearinghouse provides a central location for the collection, classification, and distribution of data, information, and tools addressing energy supply and use in the Cape & Islands region, both now and in the future.
