Green Photovoltaic Energy Production
The table below on the right provides the annual photovoltaic energy production by town. The number of photovoltaic
sites has been growing dramatically and is expected to exceed two hundred and fifty sites in 2008. The data is based
on information from the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MTC) collected in support of
Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). RECs are tradable environmental
commodities in the United States and represent proof that a specified amount of electricity was generated from an eligible
renewable energy resource. Photovoltaic energy producers that do not participate in the RECs program are not represented
in the data.
